In 2016, the Berkeley County Industrial Park Development Fund supported the Mini-Grants to Teachers program by establishing an endowment at the Community Foundation with a $25,000 matching fund challenge. The Foundation awards between $600,000 and $750,000 in grants and scholarships annually.

One fund is the Berkeley County Industrial Park Development Fund. That fund awards grants to Martinsburg/Berkeley County nonprofit organizations, schools, technical institutes, universities and government agencies. Grants are provided to help fund projects and programs that focus on economic development, business recruitment, job creation, workforce development, career training and job skills development.

“When they set that up they did it to benefit Berkeley County nonprofit organizations,” said Michael Whalton, Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation.

During the past several years, grants from the Fund have been awarded to Blue Ridge CTC, Panhandle Home Health, Shepherd University Martinsburg Center and Hospice of the Panhandle for their Building the Dream Campaign.

This year, applications are being accepted until July 31st and a total of $28,000 in grants will be awarded by the Berkeley County Industrial Park Development Fund.
