SEATTLE, March 17, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Charities are leaving millions of dollars on the table at fundraising events.

Kathy Kingston, award-winning auctioneer, consultant and author of the Amazon bestseller “A Higher Bid: How to Transform Special Event Fundraising with Strategic Benefit Auctions”, will teach a fundraising auction seminar for nonprofits and schools in Lynnwood, Washington on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 from 8:30 to 11:00 a.m., and includes a book signing.

Open exclusively to staff, executives, Board members and volunteers of nonprofit organizations, including charities, foundations, schools, and health care organizations, the two-hour interactive seminar will teach participants how to maximize fundraising income during a benefit charity auction, and to turn bidders into dedicated donors.

“Most benefit auctions are ineffective because groups are using tired and stale event fundraising methods,” said Kingston, a trusted advisor and philanthropy expert who consults on fundraising issues. Clients include Sonoma Valley Vintners & Growers Alliance, who went from $700,000 to $4.5 million in their Live Auction and Fund-A-Need Appeals using Kathy’s techniques, Crones and Colitis Foundation of America, who in one year raised $500,00 in new gifts from new donors by implementing Kathy’s strategies and Boston-based Teen Voices, who doubled their auction income after attending just one seminar.

The Higher Bid Fundraising Auction Seminar, sponsored by NorthWest Software, Mitch-Stuart Inc., and Sonoma Harvest Wine Auction will take place on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the Lynnwood Convention Center, 3711 196th Street SW, Lynnwood, Washington 98036.

A national leader in fundraising auctions, Kingston Auction Company has raised millions of dollars for non-profits, charities and schools across the country for over 30 years providing strategic fundraising event planning, consultation, education, and professional fundraising auctioneers. Kathy Kingston is the founder and principal of Kingston Auction Company and creator of the Philanthropy Model of Fundraising Auctions.

Why The Cat Spring Tea Sisters Value Heritage, Mentorship and Accountability

March 17, 2016 5:22 am Published by

Why The Cat Spring Tea Sisters Value Heritage, Mentorship and Accountability | Justmeans Dreams turn into impact-driven business models as an emergent social entrepreneur resolves to find a solution.

This tenacity drives the story of sisters JennaDee Detro and Abianne Falla, co-founders of Cat Spring Tea and members of Social Venture Network’s Innovation (SVN) Entrepreneurs Program which “focuses on identifying women entrepreneurs, young entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs of color who are leveraging business for the greater good.” For Detro and Falla, Cat Spring Tea celebrates family values, cultural heritage and the catalyst by which to economically empower their neighbors.

Like many people in Cat Spring, Texas, Detro and Falla grew up believing yaupon, a native plant closely related to the holly shrub to be just that, shrubbery. But Cat Spring Tea is more than a yaupon tea company that sells “sunshine and rainwater in a glass,” as they put it. Their priority is to respect the land and American craftsmanship of farming while simultaneously supporting the people in their community.

“Once we realized that scaling production of yaupon would require a variety of labor needs, we knew we wanted to use this as a platform for fresh start employment opportunities for those in our community who, like yaupon, are also undervalued,” says Detro.

What their team members say matters so much so that Detro and Falla have adapted Cat Spring Tea’s operations based on feedback from their staff. We want to build in accountability to these priorities as we grow and we also appreciate the support and expertise available in the B-Corp network,” says Detro.

SVN’s Innovation Entrepreneurs Program has been a “gift” to Detro and Falla, particularly the thirty-minute mentor meetings and the supportive community.

“The mindset that an SVN attendee has toward the Innovation Entrepreneurs takes the cake, many conversations include the following: “You should talk to so and so…?
