As a result, the Foundation serves as a catalyst for innovative programs in the arts, community development, education, environment, health and human services.
Eighty-nine grants totaling $201,073 were awarded to assist a variety of projects in Miami County and ranged from $200 to $10,000.
Organizations benefiting from these grants include Bethel Local Schools 3rd grade, Bethel Local Schools Secondary Library, Bradford Elementary Special Education Dept., Bradford Junior High School, Bradford Ohio Railroad Museum, Bradford Pee Wee Football Assoc., Brukner Nature Center, Countyline Christian Assoc., Covington High School, Dream Builders/The Clubhouse, Edison Community College, Family Abuse Shelter of Miami County, First United Church of Christ, Friends of Hayner, Friends of Mainstreet Piqua, Friends of Piqua Parks, G.I.V.E. of The New Path, Greene Street Daycare and Preschool Program, Hoffman UMC, Johnston Farm Friends Council, Lehman Catholic High School, Lockington Volunteer Fire Assoc., Miami County 4-H Fundraising Committee, Miami County Children’s Services Board, Miami County Dental Clinic, Miami County Educational Service Center, Miami County Park District, Miami County Pro-Life Educational Foundation, Miami County YMCA, Miami East FFA Chapter, Miami East High School Muse Machine, Miami East Instrumental Music Dept., Miami East Junior High School, Miami East Junior High School MUSE Machine, Milton Union High School, Milton Union High School Band, Milton-Union Public Library, New Creation Counseling Center, Newton Township Trustees, Oakes Beitman Memorial Library, Ohio State University Extension Miami County, PHS Alumni Band, Piqua Catholic School, Piqua City Schools, Piqua City Schools Bennett Intermediate, Piqua City Schools Wilder Intermediate, Piqua Civic Band, Piqua Compassion Network, Piqua Juvenile Education Fund, Pleasant Hill Brethren in Christ Church, St. Baseball Boosters, Inc., Tipp City Chamber of Commerce, Tipp City Schools, Tipp City Schools Middle and High School, Tipp Monroe Community Service, Troy Christian Early Childhood Development Center, Troy Christian Elementary School, Troy Christian Jr. High School, Troy City Schools Van Cleve, Troy City Schools Van Cleve 6th grade, Troy Civic Theatre, Troy Development Council, Troy Lunch Club, Troy-Miami County Public Library, Upper Valley Career Center, Upper Valley Community Church and WACO Historical Society.
Additionally, the Foundation continues to provide 17 ongoing humanitarian grants for food, utility, shelter and medical assistance programs throughout the county. Agencies selected to receive these grants consist of the Bethany Center’s soup kitchen, Covington Outreach Association, FISH Union Township, Family Abuse Shelter of Miami County, G.I.V.E., Health Partners of Miami County, Miami Co. Patrick’s Soup Kitchen and Troy Lions Charities.
A grant from the Jean and John Dugan Fund was awarded to Partners in Hope.
The celebration concluded with a final comment from Adams to grant recipients, “On behalf of the Miami County Foundation Board of Directors, accept our thanks for the work each of you and those serving your organizations provide to our county.”
The deadline for fall 2015 grant distribution is the last day of August.
