Fisk University Grant

Organization - Fisk University
Grant Amount - $250,000
Foundation - Mott Foundation
Grant Purpose - This grant will provide support to Fisk University for its financial stability and realignment of academic and administrative services. Among Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Fisk University consistently ranks among the top academically. Its 63 percent graduation rate is exemplary given its high number of low-income, first-generation college students. More Fisk alumni earn doctorate degrees in the natural sciences than African-American graduates from any other college or university in America. In order to maintain its tradition of excellence, the university is currently realigning its academic and administrative programs to address financial difficulties. Initial cost-saving measures include reducing administrator salaries, removing deferred maintenance from the budget, and discontinuing certain sports programs. At the same time, officials have begun implementing plans to increase revenue through enrollment management and fundraising.
