European Stability Initiative Grant

Organization - European Stability Initiative
Grant Amount - $150,000
Foundation - Mott Foundation
Grant Purpose - The overall project goal is to promote a more informed debate on social, economic, and political developments in the Western Balkans in order to secure stability and prosperity in this region. To this end, the European Stability Initiative, a European think tank, will build local capacities for policy-relevant research and analysis; carry out field-based studies and assessments; and stimulate discussions on policy issues through seminars, public presentations, and bilateral meetings. The grantee will link practitioners and policymakers at local and national levels by helping translate on-the-ground realities into concrete policy recommendations. Particular emphasis will be given to the current debate about further European Union enlargement in the Western Balkans. During 2005-2007, the grantee worked with three new think tanks in the region; published six major reports; and participated in numerous conferences, debates, and bilateral meetings related to regional developments. The grantee's main office is in Berlin. It has a field office in Istanbul and analysts located in Belgrade and Pristina.
