The New School, a not-for-profit liberal arts college in New York City, awarded degrees to more than 3,000 students at its annual Commencement ceremony on Sunday.

CBS New York reports the ceremony was held at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center and featured a performance by the New School's Groove Ensemble, a set by Stevie Wonder, and speeches from the school's president and the dean of its School of Jazz and Contemporary Music.

"I can ask you how jazz music and fashion practice are all related," the dean of the School of Jazz and Contemporary Music said.

"How about dance, classical music, and global studies? Copa? Mannes? Lang? The lot we think and practice as students is interconnected and innovative, spanning across many subjects and practices."
