Grant Purpose - Incorporated in 1998, the Flint River Watershed Coalition represents concerned citizens, local government, business interests, educational institutions, and others who feel strongly that the Flint River and its tributaries are vital resources that need to be protected, preserved, and improved. With offices located in Flint, Michigan, the coalition works within seven counties throughout the nearly 1,400 square mile watershed. This general purpose grant will support the coalition's efforts to improve public understanding of the values of the Flint River, engage citizens in active watershed stewardship, restore the health of the Flint River ecosystem, and strengthen its organizational capacity.
