Flint Institute of Arts Grant

Grant Purpose - Founded in 1928 as an art school and incorporated in 1930, the Flint Institute of Arts operates in the DeWaters Art Center building on the Flint Cultural Center campus. The institute recently completed a two-phase, $20 million building renovation and expansion. New galleries allow the Flint Institute of Arts to display more of its collection, and increased studio space provides room for the art school to grow. The modernized facility has generated new excitement in the arts community, its multipurpose space has been utilized for special events, and new audiences have been drawn to the institute. This year over 100,000 students and adults visited the museum, participated in educational programs, and attended art classes.
