Grant Purpose - Common Purpose South Africa operates educational programs to equip leaders and decisionmakers with the information and understanding they need to more effectively shape the future of their city or region. The grantee offers programs in Johannesburg and Cape Town designed for emerging as well as established leaders of all ages, backgrounds, and from all sectors -- public, private, and nonprofit. All programs and activities share the same long-term goals: better decisionmaking in all sectors, more effective solutions to common problems, more engaged and active citizens, and ultimately, stronger communities. This grant will provide continued support to ensure the participation of leaders from the nonprofit sector in the grantee's various programs and activities. During 2008, the grantee will explore extending programs into the Eastern Cape or KwaZulu-Natal provinces.
