Telcos to launch pSMS donation pilot | Fundraising & Philanthropy Australasia Magazine
Premium SMS donations will be trialled in Australia in a 12 month pilot, with telecommunications companies calling for expressions of interest by April 8 from charities that would like to participate.

Premium SMS or pSMS has for some time been considered the Holy Grail of mobile giving in Australia after its success in the UK. We are proud to support a program that will allow individuals and charities to use the power of mobile to help make a positive difference.”

The news comes 17 months after Australian nonprofits joined forces with the peak industry body, Fundraising Institute Australia, to work on a whole-of-sector strategy for pSMS giving to become a viable fundraising medium across all telecommunication networks.

Stadalsky: Minooka police recipient of donations

March 29, 2015 5:00 pm Published by

The business caters to any type of animal, from dogs and cats, to pigs, horses and alpacas.

When Minooka Community Policing Officer Denis Tatgenhorst saw the chamber announcement, he decided to contact the company and see if they would be willing to donate some food for Ruger.

To his surprise and the department’s delight, Brothers Company Supply agreed to feed Ruger for life.

The company is willing to donate food to any canine police unit, Dave Bankowski said.

“We talk to our manufacturers and we feed them for life,” he said.

Ruger’s owner and handler, Officer Matt Juras, said it’s a great thing the company does because Ruger, a 2-year-old Labrador, goes through about 40 pounds of dog food every three weeks.

Bankowski said the company is more than happy to do something for police departments.

“They do a great service for us, so we feel it’s good to do something back,” Bankowski said.

The department’s Citizen’s Police Alumni Association was the recipient of one of those gigantic checks from the Community Foundation of Grundy County.

In reality, the foundation’s donation will offset the cost of a new automatic external defibrillator (AED) to have in the village’s newly remodeled board room.

Foundation board member Lorraine Davidson and Program Director Devan Gagliardo presented the huge check to the Citizen’s Police Alumni Association and the village at the March 24 board meeting.

The Alumni Association had originally applied for a different grant through Morris Hospital, but the AED grant money formerly available had run out, Tatgenhorst said.

Objective model: Philanthropy and the pharmaceutical sector

A look into MediBa nk; a zero-donati on-based trust. A large number of medical stores throughout the country especially in small cities and towns are manned by unqualified people and in some cases, even uneducated personnel, who only recognise drugs by symbols or digital numbers drawn on prescriptions by the issuing doctors who are an integral part of the medical mafia.

One doctor in Gakkhar Mandi, a small city in Gujranwala, is known for running a dispensary adjacent to his clinic, staffed by his uneducated brother. Furthermore, there have been frequent scandals around drugs.

In this backdrop, a bureaucrat called Javaid Nisar Syed, set up a trust in Lahore with five stated objectives: To disburse free medicines to the disadvantaged, supply drugs to NGOs on cost prices, provide medical facilities through ICTs; undertake joint ventures with NGOs and enter into public private partnerships; and to create awareness amongst masses around health issues.

Launched last year, the MediBank trust has started its operations in a number of cities across the country. Given the passion of its founder and numerous other examples of altruism and commitment to social responsibility in the country, one must hope that this venture will break the vicious circle of trust deficit in the health sector in Pakistan.

“The real value proposition of MediBank is not in its own operating model but the impact it can create through other social sector organisations,” said Saleem Ranjha.

Through Wan Miana Rural Development Programme, Saleem Ranjha has already created an integrative platform through which microfinance, free education, sustainable and progressive farming, health services, and production of solar energy are coordinated for productive and distributive efficiency.

a In December 2012, St. Clair Inn LLC its request, and quieted Waterfrontas ownership of parcel 7.

a Between the time of Kellyas order and the Court of Appeals opinion, St. Clair Inn LLC sold interest in the seventh parcel to International Border Consolidators LLC.

a On March 24, 2015, the Court of Appeals reversed Kellyas decision and gave the parcel back to Waterfront.

In Tuesdayas opinion, the Court of Appeals said the exclusion of parcel 7 does make the property unmarketable. Clair Inn LLC and Waterfront Hotel Ventures LLC.

aa There is no dispute that, before, up to, or until the conveyance, the property at issue was not in violation of the cityas zoning ordinance,a the opinion reads.

aa because there was no preexisting violation of a zoning ordinance before the conveyance and the act or matter that encumbered the title was the conveyance itself, defendant could not have breached its Covenant Deed.a

The appeals court also said the status of the property as a planned unit development was listed in the county land records before the sale.

aThus, using reasonable diligence plaintiff could have discovered the zoning restrictions on the property,a the opinion reads.

Mark Sadecki, a lawyer representing Waterfront Hotel Ventures, said neither party was aware of the zoning amendment at the time of the sale.
