South African History Archive Trust Grant

Organization - South African History Archive Trust
Grant Amount - $60,000
Foundation - Mott Foundation
Grant Purpose - This grant will provide support to South African History Archive Trust in its efforts to make the work of South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission more accessible to a wider audience. Despite a rich body of material generated by the truth and reconciliation process, there is a concern that most South Africans have not had access to this information. Specifically, this grant will fund a component aimed at tertiary education students that includes compiling a CD ROM set of all 78 Truth and Reconciliation Commission Special Report television programs; and producing an accompanying booklet containing detailed findings, commentary, and relevant research links. This resource will be disseminated, free of charge, to tertiary institutions and organizations that work in the field of transitional justice and reconciliation, particularly those that work with apartheid victim/survivor groups.
