Amwaj, “waves” in Arabic, focuses on offering socially innovative ideas, sharing best practices, and finding practical solutions to build inclusive societies for a sustainable future in the MENA region.

The forum brings together leaders in environmental sustainability, social entrepreneurs and media to create a socially responsible community, both in water and energy conservation as well as social innovation.

During AMWAJ, the UN Secretary General Envoy for Youth, Ahmad Al Hindawi, said that the challenges that people face in the region revolve primarily around peace and security, education, employment, and participation. Stop looking for jobs and start inventing jobs,” Al Hindawi said.

He added that young people want to align themselves to companies that do things for society, while others do not want to work at companies anymore.
He mentioned that one of the biggest challenges for companies in the future would be attracting young talents, because most of them want to start their own business and be an entrepreneur.

“Today we have the largest generation of youth in history in this region.

A group of former leaders and supporters of Quincy Asian Resources has sent a blistering letter to the nonprofit’s current board of directors, criticizing the organization’s performance, financial management and lack of transparency around the recent departure of its executive director.

The letter endorsed by 17 former Quincy Asian Resources (QARI) board members, donors and volunteers was sent to the nonprofit’s board of directors earlier this month.

Gene Lee, former president of QARI’s board of directors and one of the letter’s authors, didn’t want to talk specifics when reached by phone Monday.

Wan Wu, another former QARI board of directors’ president who endorsed the letter, also said he wanted to meet with the current board before discussing the letter.

“When we received this letter from a group of community members who once played a significant role at QARI, we responded immediately, correcting some misapprehensions contained therein and inviting this group to an upcoming board meeting.

Rob Sheppard is serving as QARI’s interim executive director while the board of directors searches for Brothers’ permanent replacement.

A social enterprise company that has raised more than 46 million for charities in the past seven years has been recognised on a prestigious annual list of technology businesses.

Cause4 supports third sector organisations with strategy, fundraising and social development and raises an average of 500,000 for charities every month.

In the past year, the firm has invested heavily in digital strategy, helping its partners select the best services and partnerships to support their growth and maximise income.

It has now been recognised by entrepreneurship forum Silicon Valley Comes to the UK (SVC2UK) as one of the UK’s 50 hottest startups that have successfully scaled up.

If charities are going to survive in this post-Brexit environment, they have to take the same attitude to success as private sector companies

The list includes the fastest growing new businesses boasting an average growth of 47% over the past year.

Cause4 founder Michelle Wright said: “Charities that don’t make best use of technology will get left behind or face collapse.

“The charity sector deserves the same investment as the private sector.

John Converse Townsend, a Forbes contributor, shares what can the private sector do for a social enterprise. He encourages social enterprises to reach out to corporations for help to scale up their businesses.
