Job Summary:

The Director of Community, Philanthropy & Fund Development reports to the President & CEO.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

Relevant education or credentials strongly preferred in Philanthropy, Fund Development, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or similar field

Experience:

Minimum ten years of successful philanthropy, fund development, and community relations with emphasis on donor relationships, communications, and community relations, preferably in a philanthropic or human service organization

Competencies:

Exceptional verbal and written business communication skills
Exceptional interpersonal skills including cultivation, negotiation, and persuasive influence
Effective public speaking and ability to represent the organization in varied settings
Personal enthusiasm for and commitment to philanthropy and fund development
Proven ability to manage confidential information appropriately
Strong task management and project organizational skills, including delegation
Strong technological skills, especially internet related platforms
Ability to maintain high level of credibility with all levels of organization
Ability to coordinate complex projects
Ability to work collaboratively within all levels of organization
Ability to multi-task and to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Ability to interact effectively with external organizations, informal networks and individuals, and the ability to negotiate sometimes sensitive and highly political situations prudently and ethically
Ability to respond effectively to changing and sometimes ambiguous situations with sound and accurate judgment
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities to conclusion with accuracy and thoroughness
Proficiency in databases, especially donor/membership/contacts management systems
Proficiency with internet resources and social media for nonprofits with an emphasis on building strong and vibrant online communities

Duties/Responsibilities

Plans, cultivates, executes and reports on all philanthropic and fund development activity including annual appeal, special events, major gifts, dedicated campaigns, grants/contacts and other charitable giving
Organizes plans to meet philanthropic goals within established time frames and budgets
Implement and sustain long-term donor cultivation model (experience with Benevon preferred)
Build successful endowment
Establish and coordinate planned giving program
Maintain donor management system including near real time thank you letters, pledge reminders and annual statements
In conjunction with the strategic plan, participates in most aspects of community relations
Engages the Agency with the community to build successful public image
Inspires, grows and supports new and existing donors according to organization’s mission, values and strategy
Identifies opportunities to strengthen Agency brand awareness
Assists in personal identification, contact, and cultivation of relationships with prospective donors
Responds to inquiries and follow up on requests from donors
Initiates donor recognition
Establishes communications to recognize grant awards
Serve as the President’s liaison with Friends groups helping to coordinate their fund development activities
Develops organizational relationships with relevant community foundations, intermediary organizations and other community philanthropy entities
Writes clear, complete and effective funding proposals or specific substantive portions thereof
Provides relevant information for the preparation of thorough and well-supported annual budgets
Prepare revenue and expense reports for all events
Works with IT to present an engaging public website to attract and engage a wide range of constituents
Manages media relations including social medias and online networking sites
Ensures compliance with all applicable local, state and federal laws
Attends professional training sessions as required
Attends and participates in Agency staff meetings
Attends and participates in regular supervision with President
Attends and participates in regular Management Staff meetings
Attends and participates in Agency PR/Development events if requested
Appropriately accesses, uses, and safeguards client Confidential or Protected Health Information in the performance of job duties
Performs other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises fund development staff. Assures that all employees, volunteers, and others under the Director of Community, Philanthropy & Fund Development complete required training and follow all Information Privacy and Security policies.

Community Foundation Awards Local Non-Profits

The Wabash Valley Community Foundation distributes grants to help organizations in the area improve and grow. Tuesday morning, the foundation distributed funding to twelve local non-profit organizations, totaling more than 95 thousand dollars. The Wabash Valley Community Foundation distributes grants to help organizations in the area improve and grow.

Tuesday morning, the foundation distributed funding to twelve local non-profit organizations, totaling more than 95 thousand dollars.

Some of the recipients this year include the Terre Haute Children’s Museum, Habitat for Humanity, the Community Theater and Swope Art Museum.

Officials are excited to announce that Lilly Endowment is joining in, by challenging Vigo County to raise one million dollars.

Beth Tevlin, the Executive Director of the Wabash Valley Community Foundation said, “Lilly Endowment has challenged us to raise a million dollars, they will in return give us a million dollars. That will be two million dollars more for unrestricted, that will amount to approximately to 80,000 dollars more each and every year to provide for grants in our local community.”

The foundation has until March 31, 2016 to raise the one million dollars.

US (CO): Pumpkin Patch Foundation Awards Cancer Research Grant

The Pink Pumpkin Patch Foundation, a Colorado nonprofit corporation, has awarded Dr. with a $15,000 grant to investigate breast cancer research.The Pink Pumpkin Patch Foundation is comprised of pumpkin growers throughout the country, who since in 2012 have committed to donating funds for every pink pumpkin sold to organizations dedicated to breast cancer research. FFA and 4H students also raised substantial funds for the foundation through pink pumpkin sales for the second year.To be eligible to receive its grant, the Pink Pumpkin Patch Foundation asks that its potential grantees spend no more than 20% of the funding in administrative costs, present proof of their 501(c)3 status and not be otherwise sufficiently funded.As we head into year four, we want to thank all the people who make it possible for us to fund these grants year after year, said Carol Holsopple-Froese, president of the Pink Pumpkin Patch Foundation and a breast cancer survivor. Whitefish Chamber Hands Out Annual Community Awards – Flathead Beacon

The Whitefish Chamber of Commerce handed out its annual awards at its community banquet last week.

Lin Akey was given the Great Whitefish Award for a lifetime of service to the Whitefish community.

Sportsman & Ski Haus was named the Business of the Year for its community involvement and reinvestment into the site in Whitefish.

The Whitefish Winter Carnival was named the Tourism Business of the Year.

Jim and Karen Morrell were named the Volunteers of the Year for their years of dedicated service to the Whitefish Chamber and other local nonprofit organizations.


UK will be celebrating its first national celebration of social enterprises dubbed as Social Saturday. World famous celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, who founded the Fifteen restaurant chain.
